About this event
You don’t have to be a parent of a public school student to understand the impact of the Board of Education on individual citizens and the county as a whole. The Montgomery County League of Women Voters and our co-sponsors will be hosting an in-person candidate forum to help the public gain insight into the candidates running for seats on the School Board and where they stand on this year’s hot-button issues.
Potential issues facing the new School Board include student cellphone usage, handling cases of bullying and discrimination, efforts to narrow the achievement gap involving students of color and establishing a working relationship with the new Superintendent.
The candidates are:
- At Large: Lynne Harris and Rita Montoya;
- District 2: Brenda Diaz and Natalie Zimmerman
- District 4: Shebra Evans and Laura Stewart
Tonia Bui will once again moderate the event. Written questions from the audience will ensure a lively and informative evening.
The forum is free to the public; no registration required.
