Volunteering Opportunities

The Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority has invited the League to join them at a series of voter registration and education events on campuses of Montgomery College. League volunteers will distribute VOTE411 cards and have a sample copy of the Voters’ Guide.

For all events after October 11, we can distribute copies of the Voters’ Guide.

The registration/education events will be in the cafeteria at the Rockville and Germantown campuses during lunch breaks from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm.

People often call the League to request information about voting, covering everything from “Where can I get a Voters’ Guide?” to “When does Early Voting start?” We train volunteers to answer the most frequently asked questions and have a system for forwarding phone calls so that you work from home. Each volunteer will sign up for a 3-hour shift on a specific day. If you are a Spanish Speaker, please consider signing up to support our Voter Hotline in Spanish.

Volunteers needed to distribute VOTE411 cards during morning and evening rush hours at selected Metro and MARC stations. Sign up for a morning or evening slot at one of these Metro or MARC stations; you decide the most convenient day for you to distribute cards during the period from October 21 through 25. Volunteers should pick up the VOTE411 cards in the League office in Rockville or from Dee Clarkin in Silver Spring.

Assist students with same day voter registration applications for filing during Early Voting  @ MC Executive Office Bldg. Also help check voter registration status, and remind voters that mail in ballots applications must be delivered to the BoE that day. Event will be in Building SV. Three volunteers needed including at least two Registrars.

Help new citizens register to vote after their naturalization ceremony.
