Volunteering Opportunities

Help represent the League at the Harvest Moon Festival at Veterans' Plaza in downtown Silver Spring. The festival is an eclectic, multicultural event of arts, entertainment, and exhibitors. Register voters, provide election information, promote LWV. Three volunteers needed for each of two shifts, morning (Noon - 4 PM) and afternoon (4 PM-7 PM).

Assist residents to check and update their voter registrations and complete new voter registration applications. These include lifelong voters who have had a recent change of address and want to vote in the November 5th election..

The Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority has invited the League to join them at a series of voter registration and education events on campuses of Montgomery College. League volunteers will distribute VOTE411 cards and have a sample copy of the Voters’ Guide.

For all events after October 11, we can distribute copies of the Voters’ Guide.

The registration/education events will be in the cafeteria at the Rockville and Germantown campuses during lunch breaks from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm.

Help register voters at Montgomery College's Rockville campus during Club Rush, the main event to promote where the campus community discovers student groups, campus resources, and other valuable MC connections.

Help register voters at Montgomery College -- Takoma Park/Silver Spring.

We will be offering a two-hour Zoom session to familiarize prospective volunteers with materials and resources available to help answer voters' questions when they call the Hotline. The training will be offered on Thursday, September 26, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and repeated on Monday, September 30, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Please sign up for whichever is more convenient for you.

Help register voters at Montgomery Hills Street Fest.

Assist incarcerated individuals to register to vote by mail and provide voter education at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in Boyds.

Volunteers should indicate whether they are Voter Registrars or interested in providing voter education at this event: 8 Voter Registrars are needed and 4 Voter Educators. All Volunteers will be entering the facility and must submit vetting form as directed.

PLEASE NOTE: The security at the County Correctional Facility in Boyds is such that volunteers cannot use any assistive devices like canes, walkers or wheelchairs.
