League of Women Voters of Montgomery County, Maryland Privacy Policy

The League of Women Voters of Montgomery County, Maryland places a high priority on protecting the privacy of our members and website users, while also providing transparency about the process. This policy explains the types of information that are collected by the LWVMC website and how the information is used. 

Our local League’s policy follows the League of Women Voters of the United States’ privacy policy (https://www.lwv.org/privacy-policy). Our website is hosted by ClubExpress, and it has its own privacy policy (http://lwvmocomed.clubexpress.com/privacy). Some portion of the LWVMC website is hosted by vendors providing services to the League; these vendors have their own privacy policies. 

Key features of the LWVMC Privacy Policy 

Members or non-members who register for or take part in our in-person or virtual events voluntarily provide us with contact information such as name and e-mail address. We may use this information to reach out to them at a later date. Individuals may always “opt out” at any time if they wish to be removed from our contact list. 

Anyone communicating with the LWVMC via the internet automatically provides an identifiable Internet Protocol (IP) address. We store and use IP addresses without the corresponding names to track the number of visitors to our website. 

Types of Data Collected 


Our website collects the following information for members, non-members and donors depending on the use of our site: 

• Name
• E-mail address
• Phone number
• Mailing address
• Volunteer interest information
• Records of payments made (memberships, donations) • Usage data 

Member contact information is shared with the national and state League of Women Voters. 1 

Children’s Privacy 

We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from anyone under the age of 13 without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information. 

Links to Other Websites 

While the LWVMC may share contact information with the state or national League of Women Voters or with relevant partner organizations sponsoring events on League-related topics, it does not rent, sell, or trade your information to other third parties. 

The League’s website may contain links to other sites. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that site. These external sites are not operated by the League. We strongly advise you to review their privacy policy statements, as we cannot guarantee their security. 

Tracking Technology and Cookies 

Like many websites, we use “cookie” technology. A cookie is a small file placed on your device. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, if you do not accept cookies, you may not be able to use some parts of our website. Unless you have adjusted your browser setting so that it will refuse cookies, our website may use cookies.
