 Next Election - 2026

The 2026 Primary Election is June 23, 2026;  the General Election will be held on November 3, 2026.

Montgomery County voters will go to the polls in 2026 for a statewide election, referred to as the Gubernatorial Election.  The offices of Governor, Attorney General and State Senators and Delegates, among other state-level offices, will be on the ballot.  In Montgomery County, the offices of County Executive and County Council, Sheriff, State's Attorney and some School Board positions, among others, will be on the ballot. Voters will also select their U.S. Representative.

For information about the offices on the ballot and how they can affect your life, download the League brochure

The Primary Election is the election where voters choose the candidates who will be on the ballot in November.  Because Maryland has a "closed" Primary Election system, voters can choose only the Democrat or Republican party's candidates on the Primary ballot if the voter is registered for that party.  In the General Election all voters may vote for any candidate on the ballot.  For more information, see "Should I Register with a Party?" on the Register to Vote page.
