Membership Dues
Membership is one year, renewed annually. Dues are “pay what you can.” $75 is suggested, but you can pay less (minimum $20). Because your dues are split between the national, state and local Leagues, you will see THREE separate transactions on your credit card, adding up to the dues amount, allocated as follows:  20% to the LWVMC, 47% to the LWVMD, and 33% to the LWVUS.

Complimentary Student Memberships
Students may join the LWVMC for free! Contact lwvmc@lwvmocomd.org for more information.

About Membership

Who can join? We welcome new members age 16 and older of all races, genders, religions and socioeconomic backgrounds. We seek to expand our diversity in order to broaden our perspective and better serve all communities.

Why join?
Joining the League of Women Voters is a great way to get involved in your community and play an active role in our democracy. As a member, you have a voice and vote in deciding what issues our League chooses to study and to advocate at the local, state and national level. Your membership gives us numbers to sustain our voice and political influence.

Members have access to our programs, publications, and a range of
opportunities to participate in nonpartisan activities focused on developing more engaged citizens and creating a more transparent government. We register new voters, host local community forums and debates, and provide voters with the election information they need. We engage at the local and state levels on legislative issues based on consensus policy positions adopted after study and member agreement.

Is there a volunteer obligation?  You decide if and at what level you participate. Some members are more active, including by joining study committees and volunteering to support our work in the community. We value just as much members whose participate by paying dues and donating to support the League’s work. When the League testifies at County Council, for example, your membership alone provides the political influence needed for citizen impact.
